Terrible experience..I went to this Solicitor... from the outset I was very specific that i needed their assurance of acceptance of non photo ID for sale & purchase as my passport was out of date & i needed quick completion as my work had moved 200 miles away to Torquay!...i produced the alternative documents as specified by the money laundering act of 2007 that a Government document P60 & P45 IS acceptable as ID of myself in place of photo ID...after initially acceptiing the documents & going through the process of linking Solicitors and getting as far as memorandum of sale, Dawn Solicitors then changed their minds & said only a current photo passport ID was acceptable to them, leaving me high & dry & very much delaying & disrupting the chain!....I also notice some of the 5 star reviews here are actually employees of Dawn Solicitors...that is a conflict of interest!Response to Dawn Solicitors comment 21/02/18Thank you for your reply to my google review. I would just like to make you aware that despite your insistance that the SRA regulations requires you to insist on photographic ID, that this is in fact NOT the case. I now have a representation without any issue from Clarke & Son Basingstoke with exactly the same non photo ID documents which were produced at our meeting a week ago & my Estate Agent is happy to proceed too..I would suggest in future that you clarify exactly what documents the SRA find acceptable as ID. From our first contact you did NOT make it clear you could only accept photo ID which is obviously why the alternative documents were e-mailed to you by myself because they were sent to you at your own request for proof of ID!!
