I feel compelled to write a review here. Im a teacher at this school and I am, along with many of my colleagues really sad and angry with the way the school is run. Since Mrs Hernandez Estrada left, the headteacher Mark Pritchard has driven the school to the gutters. He is rude and demeaning. The governors put up with his disastrous way of doing things. Everyone hates him - staff, students and parents. People walk around with a glum look on their face and you can tell leadership just put on a brave face for the sake of staff and pupils. Its a negative climate and a culture of witch-hunt prevails. I love the kids of the school and honestly only stay for them. My posting on google review shows that no one dares speak up because of the fear management instils. It needs to be sorted.
Half way through the summer hols Im reflecting on my sons experience at the school. I was pleased with it generally but this year so many great teachers are leaving. Around 15, many of them long serving teachers. During the year some crazy things have been going on, including repeated fire alarms, student witch hunts, bullying, and deterioration in behaviour. Ive asked around other parents and it usually comes down to the same thing. The headmaster. Hes been there a year and is basking in the glory of the hard work of the aforementioned staff and previous headmistress. I have met many of my sons friends and every single one of them hate him. What kind of environment has he created where there is such negativity for students, and apparently for staff as well. I will be contacting a few other schools to get my son transferred. I suggest other parents do the same. Thank you.
Wouldnt have been where I am today without the teaching and support of all the staff at Upton Court Grammar. Teachers were always more than willing to go out of their way for students, and provide us with the best of opportunities. Having now graduated from a top university, I accredit this to all the wonderful teachers, teaching and time spent at this school!
I had a truly phenomenal experience for the seven years I attended Upton Court Grammar School. The teachers I had were incredibly supportive, typically going above and beyond for students. I found that the skills and work ethic I developed here were transferrable to university! I would highly recommend this school to any potential students looking to increase their future career prospects!
